rapidly covered much of the sky. Brightness 3-4. Timestamp local daylight savings time.

Very nice NLC display. The Moon came up and enhanced an already nice scene. Observations from about 23.00 UT

07/26/2008 to 01.30 UT 07/27/2008. Most of the time the entire north and north-eastern sky was electric

blue-white. There were complex structures. Types I,II,III,IV,O. Brightness 4-5. Timestamp local daylight savings time.

The night sky is gradually getting darker as we approach fall. My fourth night of NLC observations/photography took

place early in the morning of Thursday (July 24). I observed from 23.45 UT 07/23/2008 to 01.30 UT 07/24/2008. The

western, northern, and north-eastern sky was more or less constantly filled with NLC of various types (I,II,III,IV) and brightness (2-4). Timestamps on images are local time (GMT+2 (daylight savings time)).

Lower, higher and uppermost clouds.. The fog just above the tree-tops is

about 10 meters above the ground. The clouds surrounding the mountains (Sunnmørs Alps) hoovers

in altitudes of about 1400 meters. While the NLC is located up to about 8500 meters..

Third night of NLC observations this season. Kept an eye on the sky from 22.00 UT,but no NLC was visible before about 23.50 UT July 10, 2008. I observed from 23.50 UT 07/10/2008 to 00.45 UT 07/11/2008. This was the best display of the season so far. The northern/north-eastern sky was covered with type: I,II,III,IV NLC. Brightness: 2-3. Timestamp displayed on images below are local time (GMT+2 (daylight savings time)).

A view of the complex structure of this NLC occurance, the sky is rather bright so I had to turn up

the contrast a bit.

Clear sky but no NLC occurance.

               July 09, 2008

My second observations of NLCs of the season. I observed from am 01.15 to am 02.20 local time (GMT+2) it was a very weak display on the north-eastern sky. I estimated the brightness to 1. NLC of type II. One picture of the display is displayed below.

My first observations of NLCs this season was carried out early in the morning of July 4th. I observed from am 01.30 to am 02.15 local time (GMT+2) The northern / north-east sky was covered with NLC of type II and some minor occurance of type III. I estimated the brightness to be about 2-3. A few pictures of the display is found below.

Whenever I prepare for night sky photography, I hear some flap-flaap and an owl scream. The owl lands in a nearby tree where it remains sitting on a branch making "scary noises"..

The astro-owl.
