Aurora borealis. April 21/22, 2023.

The Nordic night sky is getting shorter and shorter as summer approaches. But, there is still some night darkness. Here are a few photos from last nights (April 21/22, 2023) auroral activity. Please, find timestamp on the images. Photo details: Canon 650D, 8 mm fisheye-lens.

Auroral Arc Segment. March 25, 2023.

There was an interesting auroral activity on March 25, 2023. From about UTC 20.14 to UTC 21.08 (as seen from this location), all auroral activity occured in an east-west oriented band. Green auora moved swiftly over the sky. Occationally, breaking up in patches.

Venus and Jupiter Conjunction. March 2, 2023.

A brief gap in the cloud layer enabled this image to be taken. The conjunction between Venus and Jupiter. The Galilean Moons of Jupiter are also easily seen on the image. Location: Ørsta, Norway.

Very Bright Bolide. November 19, 2022.

A very bright meteor (a Northern Taurid) lit the sky over Southern-Norway at about 19:08 local time.

The landscape was lit by the exploding bolide. Recorded by a DSLR aimed in the opposite direction.
